The Lok2000
History
The Re460 was designed as successor of the Re4/4. The R stands for high speed loco, the e for electric, the 4 for the number of axles and the 6 for the evolution step.
The loco should run over 200 kph serving intercity, but also be capable of hauling 650 tons over the Gotthard route. It should have a good traction with the maximum load, but also a good acceleration at high speeds. And last but not least should be cheap in maintenance.
So 1991 the first Re460 was delivered to the SBB. Until end of 1995 119 locos where delivered to SBB at a pace of four units a month.
Later the NSB (norwegian EL18), VR (finnish SR2) and China (KTT) bought Lok2000.
Technical Infos
General
The Re460 is 18.5 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4.31 meters high (without panto). It's weight is 84 tons
Motors
The loco has four motors, running at 3500 volts. At high speed (230 kph) they turn at 4300 rpm. The relation between motor and wheel is 1:3.66.
One motor weights 2200 kg and has a power of 2100 hp.
Performance
The loco has as a max 6100 kW or 8300 hp (the Re465 has 7000 kW or 9500 hp) available. The regular performance is 4800 kW or 6000 hp. The torque strting from 0 is 275 kN, at a speed of 200 kph it is still 110 kN. The maximum Power of 6100 kW is at 80 kph.
Max values
The high speed in normal operations is 200 kph. The locos speed is limited to 230 kph. In tests the loco ran at 257 max.
The loco operates normaly with 15000 volts, but it run witout problems till 10000 volts.
A maximum of four locos can be coupled whereby the Re460 and the Re465 a compatible.
